INGREDIENTS:
- Basmati rice or sona masoori rice - 1 cup
- Water - 2 cups
- Coconut - 1/4 cup (optional)
- Salt to taste
- Oil
PREPARATION:
- Soak the rice for 2 to 4 hours.
- Drain the water.
- Add the rice and coconut to a mixer or blender. Pour 1/2 cup water and grind it into a fine paste.
- Transfer to a bowl. Add salt to taste. Add the remaining water gradually and mix well.The batter will be very thin like buttermilk consistency.
- Heat a tawa on the stove. Sprinkle 2 drops of oil and spread it with paper towel.
- Scoop the batter in a large spoon. Tilt the tawa slightly by holding the handle and pour the batter on it. If there are any holes, fill by pouring little batter there.
- Cover with a lid and cook for about 2 minutes.
- Slightly lift the sides of the dosa and transfer to a plate. This dosa doesn't turn golden brown. It is white and soft and thin. Serve with chutney, sambar, chicken or lamb gravy.
